Walsall crash: Man charged with attempted murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder after two men on a pavement were hit by a van.

One man, aged 42, is in hospital with serious injuries after the crash on Hednesford Road, Brownhills, Walsall, at about 00:50 BST on Sunday.

John Thomason, 24, of Jarvis Road, Erdington, is due before Walsall and Aldridge Magistrates' Court.

A 17-year-old girl and two men, aged 30 and 23, have been bailed by police in connection with the inquiry.

Mr Thomason is accused of two counts of attempted murder, driving whilst disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

A white van mounted the pavement near the Thai Lanna restaurant and was later recovered in Kingstanding.

The other injured man was treated in hospital and later released.
