Tamworth primary school opens farm

4 July 2014 Last updated at 16:58 BST

A primary school in Tamworth has opened its own farm.

Glascote Heath primary school currently has calves, piglets, chickens and lambs, among other animals.

Teachers said the farm would not only be used to teach children how to care for animals, but also deliver lessons such as English and maths.

Among others skills, animal feeding sessions are being used to help explain weighing and measuring.

Farm manager Sharon Jefferies said the farm also helped children understand where food comes from.
