Primark baby: Onlookers film street birth

2 July 2014 Last updated at 16:47 BST

A woman has given birth outside a Primark store in Birmingham city centre.

Passers-by stopped as paramedics delivered the baby behind screens held up by security guards, on New Street.

The owner of a nearby business said hundreds of people gathered around the woman, with some of them cheering her on and even offering money to buy a gift for the baby.

Some of the onlookers took photos and filmed on their mobile phones, while they said the woman waved as she was later helped into an ambulance.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said mother and baby were "OK" and had been taken to City Hospital for check-ups.
