A mother and son have both pleaded not guilty to holding four men as slaves.

Vasilica Panaghita, 54, of Alum Rock Road, and Cristian Panaghita, 31, of Cotterills Lane, both in Birmingham, each denied four counts of holding a person in slavery or servitude.

The pair, who entered their pleas through a Romanian interpreter, also deny four offences of requiring someone to perform forced or compulsory labour.

They are due to stand trial at Birmingham Crown Court on 24 November.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on various dates between September 2011 and 7 January this year.
