Police investigating Bedworth hoax calls arrest man

A man has been arrested after a series of hoax calls in which families were rung early in the morning and told a relative had died.

Warwickshire Police have been investigating eight calls made to families in the Bedworth area on 6 and 7 June.

The families were told they should go to George Elliot Hospital.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in Bedworth and has been released on bail until 4 August.

Det Con Michelle Russell said: "Hoax calls of this nature are understandably extremely distressing for those on the receiving end but thanks to the public and the media for sharing this appeal, we have been able to secure an arrest."
