Levi-Blue Cassin Levi-Blu Cassin died from "substantial abdominal injuries", police said

The mother and father of a 22-month-old Birmingham boy have been charged with his murder.

Levi-Blu Cassin was found dead at an address in Nightingale Avenue, Castle Bromwich, on February 20 last year.

Danielle Cassin, 26, and Mark Piper, 31, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, West Midlands Police said.

Both are also charged with neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Police said a post-mortem found Levi-Blu had died as a result of "substantial abdominal injuries".

    10:35: Arrest after stand-off via Facebook

    A man has been arrested after a stand-off following threats to emergency services as they dealt with a flood at a block of flats on Milton Street, Newtown, this morning.

    Several roads were closed while specialist negotiators from West Midlands Police were locked in talks with an occupant of the flats making "substantial threats" according to officers, since 02:17 today. At around 08:15 officers entered the premises and detained a 41-year-old man, posted police in Birmingham.

    Three men have been jailed for a combined 43 years for arming themselves with a revolver for a revenge attack after a dispute in Ladywood Community Centre, according to police.

    Jamie Webster, Arron Burris-Hale and Sarbjit Bhamra were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday after being found guilty of plotting to possess a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

    Officers caught Webster and Bhamra on 30 June 2014 within four minutes of being called to Guild Close in Ladywood after receiving reports of two men with handguns chasing a black car, a Mercedes, up the road.

    The parents of an 11-year-old Birmingham boy with autism say they have been discriminated against, after they were stranded on holiday when their airline refused to let him board the flight home.

    Arshad Sherbaz and his partner Selina Begum from Ward End were told by Thomas Cook their son Mustafah needed a "fit to fly" certificate, despite warning them about his son's disability before their holiday.

    09:32: Card cloning scam appeal

    Detectives investigating a fuel-card cloning scam have released CCTV footage showing two men they believe may have filled up with £30,000 of stolen petrol and diesel from forecourts across Birmingham, primarily in Washwood Heath and Erdington.

    Officers have already arrested and charged a cashier suspected of duplicating the cards - and they've now issued images of two men caught on CCTV using them to buy fuel.

    The normally busy M6 saw drivers walking around cars parked in traffic this morning after a crash involving an overturned lorry brought the northbound carriageway to a standstill.

    Motorist Tom Patrick tweeted a picture of the road, with people standing waiting by their cars. He said during his delay "the only thing to have improved is the weather, I've not moved an inch since 7:09".
