A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an attack on an elderly man who was dragged from his car in Bilston.

Michael Green, 84, a former jazz musician, had just left the Trumpet Pub in High Street when the attackers struck at about 23:30 BST on Friday.

They took his Toyota Avensis but dumped it shortly afterwards.

A 14-year-old local schoolboy was arrested on suspicion of robbery following an appeal for information.

Mr Green, who walks with a stick, had to undergo emergency surgery for a fractured hip and is currently recovering in hospital, police said.

Acting Det Ch Insp Pete Dunn, said: "I am overwhelmed by the amount of support people have shown following the appeal.

"This was a terrible act of violence and I am determined to find the people responsible.

"I would still like to appeal for information - this could have been your father or grandfather and we need to find those responsible."

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
