A man who was found with fatal injuries in a Birmingham street had suffered a blow to the head, tests have revealed.

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation following the results of the post-mortem examination.

Phillip Floyd, 50, was found on Forest Road, Moseley, on Tuesday 28 January and later died in hospital.

Officers had initially thought he was a hit-and-run victim. CCTV shows two cars driving down the street and a man running along Forest Road.

Det Sgt Neil Aston, said: "We are now pretty certain that Phillip was not hit by a car but received a blow to the head and was left in the road.

"The family of Phillip have been made aware of the new developments in the case and specialist officers continue to assist them."
