Police shoot 'aggressive' dog and arrest man, 33
A man has been arrested after armed police shot dead one of two "aggressive" dogs in Birmingham, police said.
Richmond Road in Bearwood was sealed off after two "pit bull-type" dogs were spotted at 16:00 GMT on Monday.
One dog was shot dead amid concerns over "public safety" while the other was taken to the force dog unit after being found in a garden.
Police confirmed a 33-year-old man is being questioned over the incident.
He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for animal cruelty, officers said.
Force Incident Manager, Chief Inspector Jack Hadley, said: "Firearms officers were called to the scene and one dog was shot and killed as there were serious concerns for public safety."
