A kickboxer from Birmingham has been jailed for 25 years for the murder of a former US Marine in Thailand.

Lee Aldhouse, 29, had pleaded guilty to stabbing Dashawn Longfellow, 23, after a bar fight in Phuket in 2010.

He was extradited to Thailand last December after having an appeal turned down by the High Court.

The kickboxer has one month to appeal against the sentence, a spokesperson for Aldhouse's legal team said.

Aldhouse, who had been training and competing in Thailand, was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport on 18 August 2010, four days after the stabbing.

Police said Mr Longfellow was attacked in his apartment on the Yanui Paradise Resort, following an earlier fight in a bar.
