M6 motorway opens after woman dies in fall from bridge
The M6 in Birmingham has reopened after a woman died on the motorway in the early hours.
Police said the woman fell from a bridge between junction seven, at Great Barr, and the junction with the M5.
The northbound carriageway between the two junctions was completely closed for about five hours with the southbound side also closed for a shorter time.
The closures created long traffic delays queuing back to junction five at Castle Bromwich.
Police are appealing for help to identify the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
PC Jason Stacey, from West Midlands Police, said: "At this stage we have been unable to identify any information about the woman and are appealing for help to trace who she is.
"Although this happened early in the morning there would have been a number of drivers on the road who may have witnessed it."
