Sikh girls 'targeted for abuse'

Girls as young as nine are among an increasing number from the Sikh community being groomed for sexual abuse by Muslim men, according to Sikh faith leaders.

A helpline set up in Birmingham said it was dealing with 19 allegations of Sikh girls being targeted.

Deputy Children's Commissioner for England Sue Berelowitz said the issue had been raised with her, but said there was no evidence to suggest grooming was being carried by one ethnic group or faith group against another.
