Woman in Coventry carjacked by men in crash helmets

A 30-year-old woman has been dragged from her car by two men wearing crash helmets, who then stole the vehicle.

She was approached by the pair in a Nando's restaurant car park in Walsgrave, Coventry on Wednesday night.

Police said she was punched in the face and left on the ground as one of the men took her red Audi A3 while the other followed on a motorcycle.

Det Con Barry Heal said: "It was a frightening attack and the woman was very shaken up."

He said she was very fortunate not to suffer more serious injuries during the carjacking, which happened on Gielgud Way in Walsgrave at about 20:30 BST.

"It was a time when other people may have been around and we would ask anyone who witnessed it, or anyone who knows anything about what happened, to call us immediately," the detective added.
