Mohamoud Elmi: Trial set over mosque police knife attack

A man charged with attempting to murder a police officer in a knife attack at a mosque is to stand trial next year.

Mohamoud Elmi, 32, also faces a second attempted murder charge and one count of wounding following the incident during evening prayers at a mosque in Washwood Heath, Birmingham, in June.

Mr Elmi, of Ward End Hall Grove, is being held at a secure psychiatric unit and was not required to appear at the Birmingham Crown Court hearing earlier.

His trial starts on 29 January 2014.

Mr Elmi is expected to appear in court for a plea hearing on 12 November.
