Birmingham burglar admits driving into police officer

A burglar has admitted grievous bodily harm after hitting a police officer who tried to stop his car during reports of a break-in in Erdington.

Carl Anderson, 50, of Osbourne Close, Aston, Birmingham, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court.

PC Peter McGinn, 44, sustained serious leg and pelvic injuries and needed an operation after being knocked over.

Anderson also admitted burglary, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance.

He will be sentenced next month.
