Man charged after pregnant woman stabbed in Stirchley

A 31-year-old man from Birmingham has been charged with attempted murder after a pregnant woman was stabbed in a car park.

The woman was attacked near Fitness First, Stirchley, on Pershore Road in Birmingham on 1 July.

Leon Harrison, from Swinford Road, Selly Oak, was arrested on 3 July after he handed himself in at a police station, West Midlands Police said.

He was due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The victim of the stabbing, who was in the early stages of pregnancy is now "on the road to recovery", police said.
