Great Barr buggy crash baby to be released from hospital

A baby boy whose pushchair was hit by a car is expected to be released from hospital later, police have said.

The toddler was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital but his injuries were "not as serious as was first thought" West Midlands Police said.

Part of the A34 Walsall Road in Great Barr was closed following the crash, which happened between the Scott Arms pub and the former Clifton Cinema at about 16:45 BST on Friday.

The road was reopened at 20:00 BST.

An off-duty nurse helped provide first aid before ambulance crews arrived.
