Man charged with attempted murder after officer hit by car

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a car in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said the 50-year-old man had also been charged with dangerous driving, burglary and assault.

The officer suffered multiple fractures while attempting to stop a car in the Erdington area on Friday evening.

The man has been remanded to appear in court on Monday.

The injured 44-year-old police officer is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
