Walsall takeaway driver death treated as murder

Yasser Abass Yassar Abass was delivering a takeaway when he was attacked

A murder investigation has begun after a takeaway delivery driver was fatally injured in an assault in Walsall.

Yasser Abass, 28, was attacked on Madison Avenue, Alumwell at about 00:20 GMT on Saturday, and died in hospital.

Police said he was with another man, who suffered minor injuries, as they went to make a delivery when three men with weapons attacked them.

Det Insp Gary Plant said they were trying to trace a dark coloured car which was parked in Rippon Road nearby.

He said: "We believe the offenders had walked to the victim's car, they then went back to their car and drove off turning left out of the cul-de-sac.

"A number of lines of enquiry are being followed up and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward."
