Broadwas A44 shut for turkey rescue as lorry overturns

A "large number" of turkeys had to be rescued after a lorry carrying them overturned on a Worcestershire road.

One man was injured when the vehicle overturned on the A44 in Broadwas in the early hours, West Mercia Police said.

The road was closed in both directions between the A4103 and Weston Hill junction for several hours while the birds were collected.

They were transferred to a second vehicle before the road was reopened.

The police spokesman said the man was treated at the scene.
