    Missing schoolgirl Zoya Anwar has been found in Birmingham city centre, police have said.

    The 18-year-old was last seen by friends at King Edward VI School in Handsworth, Birmingham, on 26 February.

    West Midlands Police said she was found by security guards in the city following an intensive search.

    One lane is closed and there's slow traffic on the M54 eastbound between J3, A41 (Albrighton) and J2, A449 (Wolverhampton) because of an accident, BBC Travel News reports.

    Campaigners are stepping up their fight to save eight NHS walk-in centres in Birmingham and Solihull.

    A review by health bosses of emergency care is under way - they say duplication between the centres and other NHS facilities may not be value for money.

    West Midlands Police tweets: We are currently responding to a fatal stabbing on a bus in Birmingham. Officers were called to Hagley Road at around 7:37am today.

    BBC Midlands Today has a crew at the scene of the fatal stabbing on a bus on Hagley Road. There will be a full report at 13:30 on BBC One.

    West Midlands Police are responding to a fatal stabbing on a bus in Birmingham.

    At 07:37 police received a call from a member of the public reporting that a passenger had been attacked.

    Officers and other emergency services were dispatched, but police said it was clear nothing could be done to save the victim.

    A passenger has been stabbed to death on a bus in Birmingham city centre.

    West Ambulance Service said two ambulance crews attended the scene, but nothing could be done to save the victim.

    The road and surrounding pavements remain shut and are likely to be closed for the rest of the day.

    BBC WM's Frankie McCamley says the bus where a person was stabbed this morning remains outside an office block, just past the Five Ways Island on the way out of the city centre.

    The whole area is cordoned off, including the pavements. There are two ambulances, five police cars and plenty of police officers around the scene.

    In a statement National Express West Midlands said: We can confirm that a tragic incident took place on a number nine service this morning.

    Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the person involved and we will offer all possible support to the police in their investigation into the matter.

    West Midlands Police say they'll be talking to a Walsall student who has been found after going missing for a week.

    Zoya Anwar was spotted by shopping centre security staff late last night.

    Five people arrested on suspicion of kidnap have been released without charge.

    National Express West Midlands said eight of its bus services - 9, 120, 126, 127, 128, 129, 140 and 141 - were being affected following the incident.

    It said services were being diverted via Calthorpe Road, Westbourne Road, Harborne Road and Chad Road to Hagley Road.

    The company urged passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.

    Police were called to the A456 Hagley Road, at its junction with Five Ways, at about 07:40 GMT.

    BBC Midlands Today says police will speak to the media regarding the fatal stabbing on a bus on Hagley Road in Birmingham at 11:30.

    People are saying it is usually a safe but busy area and at this time of day there are usually lots of children going to school and people going to work.

    The victim of the fatal stabbing on a bus on the Hagley Road was a 16-year-old girl who was on her way to school, police reveal.

    West Midlands police say the man that was detained in Birmingham city centre earlier has now been released.

    They are looking for a black man in his late teens to early 20s with very dark skin who was wearing dark coloured clothing. He was also wearing a jacket which was thought to have a tiger's head or other large motif printed on the back. He may have been carrying a bag of some sort.

    Police are warning people not to approach the man, but to contact police immediately.

    Ch Supt Dave Sturman told BBC WM that Zoya Anwar was found thanks to the media appeal.

    He said: "Zoya is safe and well, which is a great result. We just need to debrief her and find out why she went away from her home in Walsall, and then we'll get her hopefully reunited with her family, and get her A Level results that she's expecting today."

    The police said there was no evidence pointing to an arranged marriage.

    Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following the stabbing of a 16-year-old girl on a bus on the Hagley Road in Birmingham.

    Det Supt Richard Baker, from West Midlands Police, gave a briefing to the media and said they were looking for a black male in his late teens or early 20s.

    Police say the 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death in a "sporadic and very quick attack" on a bus during rush hour on the Hagley Road.

    Officers have spoken to witnesses at the scene and have set up a dedicated phone line for anyone with information - 0800 096 0095.

    The Express and Star reports that a four-car smash temporarily blocked one lane on the M54 causing delays for drivers travelling on the motorway near Wolverhampton.

    BBC WM reports that a campaign to save walk in centres in Birmingham and Solihull has stepped up. We asked if you've used the service before.

    Elaine Knowles emails: My family have used the walk in centres when needed. We have not had any problems always found them very useful especially as you have to wait at least a week at our GP Practice for an appointment.

    If these centres are closed then I sincerely hope that the GP Practices are made to have far more appointments available than they currently do!!

    Officers believe the 16-year-old girl who was stabbed on a bus on the Hagley Road in Birmingham had been on her way to school.

    Police are looking for a black male in his late teens or early 20s in dark clothing after the attack at 07:40 GMT.

    Det Supt Richard Baker urged anyone who saw the man, who was believed to be wearing dark jeans and possibly a white bandage on one hand, not to approach him but to call 999.

    We're live from Hagley Road today after the news that a 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death on a bus on her way to school, in what police describe as a "sporadic attack".

    The 16-year-old girl fatally stabbed in Birmingham this morning has been named as Christina Edkins.

    Christina was a pupil at Leasowes High School in Halesowen.

    Police said her family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this very difficult time.

    A 22-year-old man has been arrested near Morrisons supermarket in connection with the fatal stabbing of Christina Edkins this morning.

    Neil Shaw, head teacher of Christina Edkins's school, said: "Christina was a bright and popular student much loved by staff and students alike.

    "We are deeply saddened to hear this tragic news and our thoughts and hearts go out to her family and everyone who knew her."

    A Facebook group has been set up in honour of Christina Edkins, the 16-year-old who was stabbed to death on a bus this morning.

    A record number of overseas entries will be shown at Crufts at Birmingham's NEC, organisers say.

    More than 2,000 dogs from 42 countries outside the UK will take part in the four-day event, which begins later.

    Earlier this week the car giant announced that another 700 jobs will be created at the firm's new engine factory near Wolverhampton, which opens later this year.

    West Midlands Police said they arrested a 22-year-old man over the stabbing of Christina Edkins after spotting him "acting furtively around the back of Morrisons".

    West Midlands Police report that five men have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery across the Midlands region, between July and October 2012.

    Four of these men are charged with a distraction burglary, following which a Wolverhampton pensioner died in August last year.

    The men, aged 18, 20, 21 and two aged 22, are due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow to face charges of conspiracy to rob.

    One lane is blocked and there's queuing traffic on the A38(M) Aston Expressway northbound in Birmingham between the A38, Dartmouth Circus, and the B4132, Park Circus, because of a broken down car.

    There's also congestion on the A38 Suffolk Street Queensway to Holloway Circus.

    Eight NHS walk-in centres in Birmingham and Solihull face an uncertain future - just finished editing my report for BBC Midlands Today tonight.

    Breast cancer review 1718:

    Breast cancer patients treated at a West Midlands hospital are to meet the chairman of an independent review of the hospital's breast care services.

    Lawyer Sir Ian Kennedy wants to speak to patients treated by surgeon Ian Paterson at Solihull Hospital.

    Mr Paterson is the subject of a police investigation into alleged botched or unnecessary breast cancer operations at West Midlands hospitals.

    West Midlands Police says it is not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbing of Christina Edkins, after arresting a 22-year-old man.

    The force added there was nothing at this stage to suggest the attacker and Christina were known to each other.

    Det Supt Richard Baker said officers were now analysing hours of CCTV footage, including some from on the bus.
