Delivery driver hurt in Willenhall van theft

A newspaper delivery driver is in hospital after being hurt when his van was stolen in the West Midlands.

The 65-year-old man was thought to have fallen to the ground while trying to stop the vehicle in Castle Drive, Willenhall, on Friday afternoon.

His condition was described as serious but stable. The van was found in Ernest Clarke Close, about a mile away.

A 28-year-old Wolverhampton man has been arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.

The victim, who has been treated for a head injury, was airlifted to hospital following the incident, which happened at about 13:05 GMT on Friday.

    The Green Party's taken the unusual step of using online website Crowdfunder to raise money to field candidates in all 10 Birmingham constituencies at the general election.

    The party says it can only afford to put five candidates up in May, so it's started a campaign to pay for the other five and has nearly reached the target.

    A horse which was rescued last night after becoming stuck in deep mud has had to be put down.

    West Midlands Fire Service says it rescued the four-year-old horse last night in Gornal after it got stuck.
