Man charged over Yardley crash death of pedestrian, 80

A 26-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after an 80-year-old woman was knocked down while crossing the road.

The woman was crossing the Coventry Road in Yardley, Birmingham on Saturday morning when the crash occurred.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman suffered "multiple serious injuries and was in cardiac arrest" when medics arrived at the scene.

The man will appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.
