Mo Farah quizzed by Birmingham children

Questions ranged from how Farah trained before a race to what song he would choose to sing on ITV talent show X Factor

Children from two Birmingham schools have put questions to Olympic double gold medallist Mo Farah.

The children were from Lordswood Boy's School and Lordswood Girl's School.

They asked questions ranging from how Farah trained before a race to what song he would choose to sing on ITV talent show X Factor.

The runner will compete in the British Athletics Grand Prix at the National Indoor Arena (NIA) on Saturday.

'Boris hair'

When asked whether he could gain a new British record for the 3,000m, Farah, who has been training in Kenya, told a BBC reporter "anything is possible I guess".

Mo Farah was amused by some of the questions

"I want to get out there and mainly try to win the race."

Farah told the students at the event at the city's Crowne Plaza hotel, he could not sing, but if forced to, would sing U2's Beautiful Day on X Factor.

He said he decided to become a professional athlete about the age of 16 and that if he had to choose another Olympic event he would like to try the 100m.

Students also asked about his diet and how he kept calm under pressure.

Finally, one girl asked whether he would choose "Boris Johnson hair or Bradley Wiggins' hair".

The athlete joked he would opt for Mr Johnson's haircut adding the London mayor was "amazing" and had done the Mobot dance.

Afterwards pupils praised Farah, saying he was a "cool guy" and they had been happy to meet him.
