Man bailed after taxi driver hurt in Northfield

A man arrested over an attack which left a Birmingham taxi driver with a serious head injury has been bailed.

Emergency crews were called to Bristol Road South in Northfield just before 03:30 GMT on Saturday.

West Midlands Police said the victim remains in hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault has been released on bail as inquiries continue.

Police urged anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
