A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life after a man died in a fire in Willenhall.

Victor Moore, 68, was killed in the blaze that broke out at Southey Close on Monday morning. Post-mortem tests have confirmed his death was due to the "effects of fire".

Detectives believe the fire spread to the flats from an adjacent wheelie bin.

Aiden Elmore, from the New Invention area, has been remanded in custody.

He appeared at Walsall Magistrates' Court earlier and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday.
