A man who died in a fire at a block of flats in Willenhall has been named by West Midlands Police.

Victor Moore, 68, died in Southey Close on Monday morning. Police said post-mortem tests confirmed his death was due to the "effects of fire".

A 20-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of committing arson with intent to endanger life, remains in custody.

Detectives believe the fire spread to the flats from an adjacent wheelie bin.

Police have until Thursday morning to release or charge the man who was arrested on Monday.

A number of people had to be rescued from the flats after the fire started at 02:15 BST.
