Birmingham man given hospital order for Oliver Smith stabbing
A 24-year-old man has been detained indefinitely after fatally stabbing a man in Birmingham.
Oliver Smith, 23, of Kings Norton, was found in Larkhill Walk, Druids Heath on 12 February. He later died in hospital.
Michael Foster of Longbridge Lane, Longbridge was given an indefinite hospital order at Birmingham Crown Court.
He pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility in July.
West Midlands Police said Mr Smith's family had been "devastated" by his death.
Bev Wright, from the force's Criminal Investigation Department, said: "Nothing will fill the void left in their lives following his death but we hope that today's sentence will go some way to helping them overcome their terrible grief."
The 23-year-old leaves behind three young daughters.
In a statement, his family described him as "a loving father and son," who will be "always be missed and never forgotten".
