Birmingham taxi stabbing: Man appears in court

A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a mother of three who died when she was stabbed in a taxi in Birmingham.

Natasha Trevis, 22, from Weoley Castle, died shortly before 08:00 BST on Tuesday in the city's Northfield area. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Junior Saleem Oakes, of Dimsdale Road, Northfield, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody and is due at the city's crown court on Monday.

Miss Trevis had two daughters and a son.

Her father, Tony Trevis, described "Tasha" as a "beautiful, happy-go-lucky girl" and said she "doted on her kids".

Miss Trevis's mother, Joanne Hewitt, said she was "so loving, so caring".
