Ben Morutare, from Walsall, died in hospital after being stabbed in the leg outside the Smethwick Home Guard and Old Comrades Club early on Saturday.

A 19-year-old man, three 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on Thursday.

Another 18-year-old man has been bailed while police inquiries are ongoing.

He was arrested in Dudley on Wednesday.

Disturbance

The 19-year-old man is from Dudley. The 18-year-olds arrested on Thursday are from Birmingham and West Bromwich. The 17-year-old boy is from Birmingham.

Ben, who had been attending an 18th birthday party at the venue, was stabbed during a disturbance outside the club and taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The West Midlands force urged those from Friday night's party who are yet to speak to police to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Bob Hazel, who is leading the murder inquiry, said: "We've heard from a number of people who were at the party and we are very grateful to them.

"But we know there are many more who may have seen something who have not yet been in touch."

In a statement released by police, Ben's family said he was "a protective son and brother" and "would never hurt anyone".
