Celebrity tambourine doodles 'amaze' Birmingham charity

A Birmingham charity says it is "amazed" at the response it has had from celebrities who have helped raise money by doodling on tambourines.

Comedian Ricky Gervais and singer Kylie Minogue are among those to have drawn on the musical instruments, which are being auctioned for Sound It Out.

The tambourines, part of a project called Tamperine, are on display in the Mailbox until 26 May.

A charity spokesman said the idea had "captured people's imaginations".

The organisation's chief executive, Matt Daniels, said: "It's just been amazing that it's captured the hearts of all those people to contribute to this fundraiser that we're doing and helping us profile the work that we're doing."

Sound It Out, founded in 1992, aims to work with the city's marginalised individuals and communities by using music as way to engage them.
