A man has been jailed for manslaughter after he killed his friend by accidentally shooting him in the chest at a house in Wolverhampton.

Nathan Hamilton, 29, from Valley Road, Wolverhampton, was jailed for 12 years at Stafford Crown Court.

He had denied denying killing Raheem Hines-Thomas, 17, on 19 March 2011.

A jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court found him guilty after hearing how the teenager died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Det Insp Phil Asquith, from West Midlands Police, said: "This whole case demonstrates, in the worst possible way, how dangerous firearms can be, especially when they are in the wrong hands."
