William Davis was proud and independent, his family said
A 35-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of a war veteran in the West Midlands.
William Davis, 92, was found with head injuries at his home in Hobley Street, Willenhall, on Sunday evening.
Charlotte Frazier-Doody, from Hobley Street, Willenhall, was remanded in custody following a short hearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court.
Ms Frazier-Doody is next due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday 10 April.
West Midlands Police said the great-grandfather, who was found collapsed at his home, died as a result of head injuries.
His son Tom Davis said it would take his family "a lifetime to come to terms with" his death.
