Woman found dead and man stabbed at Wolverhampton house

A 36-year-old woman has been found dead at a house in the West Midlands.

Police were called to the property on Newhampton Road West, Wolverhampton, at about 07:45 GMT on Thursday after a report of disorder at the premises.

The woman and a man in his 30s were found with stab wounds at the house. The man was taken to hospital where he is in a critical condition.

West Midlands Police said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Det Insp Gordon Roberts, from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, said: "A major investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the woman's death and how the man came to sustain his injuries.

"A young woman has tragically lost her life and specialist liaison officers are supporting her family at this difficult time.

"We urge anyone who has information that may be of interest to the investigation team to come forward and speak to us at their earliest opportunity."
