Student protesters occupy Birmingham university building

Up to 20 student protesters are occupying a building at Birmingham University as part of national demonstrations against student fees.

The protesters, from the National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts, entered an empty building at the edge of the Edgbaston campus at midnight.

A spokesman for the university said the students were not disrupting teaching.

Other student activists in Cambridge disrupted a talk by the universities minister David Willetts on Tuesday.
