Birmingham riot: Ninth arrest over Winson Green deaths

A ninth West Midlands man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering three men in Winson Green during recent rioting.

The three men died after being hit by a car on Dudley Road in the early hours of 10 August.

The 28-year-old, from Winson Green, was arrested hours after a 33-year-old man from Smethwick, who was arrested on Friday, was released on bail by West Midlands police.

Four men have been charged with murder.

Haroon Jahan, 21, and brothers Shahzad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31, died while protecting homes and businesses in the area.

Ian Beckford, 30, from Quinton; Joshua Donald, 26, of Kelsall Croft, Ladywood; Adam King, 23, of no fixed address and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with murder.

Three other men aged 17, 23, and 32 have been arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
