A man who stabbed his partner 60 times has been jailed for at least 17 years after being found guilty of murder.

The body of 40-year-old Mandy Finn was found by officers at her home in Newhampton Road, Wolverhampton on 21 November last year.

Stephen Dowds, 49, pleaded not guilty to murder but was convicted by a jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court earlier.

Ms Finn's family said they were satisfied justice had been done.

In a statement released after the verdict, her family said: "Mandy was a beloved mother, daughter and friend. Everyone who knew her wanted her to be a part of their lives.

"She was fun loving, young at heart and family orientated. Her hard work and dedication meant she was able to considerably improve her life.

"All of Mandy's family have been devastated by the cruel and violent manner in which she has been taken from them at the prime of her life.

"Although this guilty verdict will never ease our pain it does satisfy us that justice has been done for Mandy."
