Man charged with murder over Halesowen woman's death

A 67-year-old man has been accused of strangling of a woman in Halesowen in the West Midlands.

Officers found an unconscious woman in a house in Brier Mill Road on Wednesday night. She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Post-mortem tests confirmed she died as a result of strangulation. The man has been charged with murder and is due before magistrates later.

Police said they believed the woman was 63-year-old Margaret Wathen.
