Millionth Range Rover produced at Land Rover Solihull

The vehicle was produced in the early hours of the morning

The one millionth Range Rover has been produced at the Land Rover factory in Solihull.

The vehicle has been made at the Lode Lane site for the last 40 years.

The car is worth more than £85,000 and will be auctioned off to raise money for the charity, Help for Heroes.

The milestone comes as the firm shelved plans last month to close either its Castle Bromwich site, near Birmingham, or the Solihull plant saving thousands of jobs.

The millionth model, which was produced in the early hours of Friday, has the highest specifications available, the firm said.

Land Rover managing director, Phil Popham is to lead a convoy of Range Rovers down the M40 to Earls Court in London on Friday to deliver the vehicle to Jeremy Clarkson, who is a patron of Help for Heroes.

He will be joined by two wounded veterans to accept the Range Rover on behalf of the charity, the spokesman added.
