Woman raped in Reading town centre side street

A 22-year-old woman was raped in Reading town centre in the early hours.

Police were alerted after the woman went to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in the town and told A&E staff she had been raped.

Thames Valley Police sealed off Chain Street, a side street with shops that are currently closed, after being called at 04:00 BST.

Supt Robin Rickard said police were reviewing CCTV images as part of the investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
