Residents in part of Reading found themselves without mains water for the third time in less than a month.
Thames Water said up to 80 homes in Shinfield experienced problems from 03:00 BST caused by two burst pipes.
Households were given bottled water while engineers worked to restore supplies.
Thames Water spokeswoman Becky Trotman apologised to customers.
"The incident we had today was completely unrelated," she added.
"The problem that we had last Wednesday and previous Monday were related to the pumps at our Earley reservoir site.
"This is nothing to do with those pumps, it's literally a couple of burst pipes that have gone through the night."
The leaks in Fair Lawn Gardens and Winton Road were repaired by lunchtime.
Thames Water said compensation was only available to customers who had been without water for 12 hours consecutively.
