Military farewell for D-Day hero Wally Harris

27 June 2014 Last updated at 22:02 BST

A military funeral has been held for a World War Two veteran who died aged 93.

Sgt Wally Harris served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and saved countless lives when he attacked German gunners preparing an ambush in the aftermath of D-Day in 1944.

He had hoped to attend the events marking the 70th anniversary of the D-day landings in Normandy earlier this month but had been too ill to travel.

The funeral with full military honours was held in Arborfield.
