Crossrail extends route to Reading station

28 March 2014 Last updated at 01:36 GMT

The London Crossrail project will be extended to Reading, the government has announced.

It will use existing lines to increase passenger capacity from the Thames Valley into the capital on one of the country's most congested routes.

But whilst the service will see two trains running every hour into London, they will be no faster than they are now.
