Residents forced to leave their homes in Slough for two nights after a gas leak have been allowed to return.

Gas escaping from a mains pipe was discovered in Wood Close, Cippenham, just before 23:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Residents from 18 homes had to leave and stay with friends and family while the leak was repaired.

National Grid said a 360m (1,200ft) cordon and road closures were removed by 04:30 GMT. It is not known what caused the gas leak.
