Man dies in Woodcote rubbish truck collision

A man has died following a collision involving a rubbish truck and two cars near Reading.

The crash happened close to The Oratory School in Woodcote, Oxfordshire, at about 12:40 BST.

A passenger in a Subaru, believed to be a man in his 50s and from Thatcham, was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital but has since died.

The driver of the Subaru, the truck driver and the driver of a Ford Focus were also taken to hospital.

The Subaru driver sustained a head injury and was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

The other two drivers were treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged, police said.

The roads surrounding the crash scene on the A4074 were closed for several hours to allow a police investigation to take place.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for anyone who saw the crash to get in touch.

The truck and Subaru are believed to have been travelling towards Reading while the Ford Focus was heading in the opposite direction.

Police said the man who died had yet to be formally identified, but added his next of kin had been informed.
