Reading sex assault victim urged to contact police

A woman in her 60s who was sexually assaulted before leaving the scene has been urged to come forward.

She was approached by a man who pulled down her skirt and attacked her as she walked in Highgrove Street, Reading, at about 01:45 BST on Saturday.

Passers-by intervened and detained a 20-year-old Reading man at the scene until police arrived and arrested him.

However the woman left the scene without talking to police or the people who came to her aid.

She is described as wearing a flowery skirt and a blue fleece top. Police said she was carrying at least two orange shopping bags.

The man arrested at the scene has been bailed until 30 July.
