Mark Campbell death: Murder accused appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 42-year-old man.

Mark Campbell, from Newbury, Berkshire, was found by an ambulance crew at a property in The Nightingales, Newbury, on Wednesday.

A post-mortem examination revealed that he died as a result of a brain haemorrhage.

Simon Velvick, 41, of Newtown Road, Newbury, was remanded in custody when he appeared at Reading Crown Court.

He is due to before the court again on 16 September.

Four other people held in connection with the death have been bailed.

A 42-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been bailed until 22 July.

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed until 19 July.

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of affray has been bailed until 18 July.
