Windsor clubgoer raped in 'black taxi cab'

A woman has been raped after getting into what she believed to be a taxi in Berkshire.

The 19-year-old victim was attacked after leaving Liquid nightclub in Windsor at 03:00 GMT.

She got into the black cab-style vehicle after being approached by two men claiming to be taxi drivers.

The woman managed to get out of the car and run away when it stopped. Thames Valley Police said it would step up patrols in the area.

Det Insp Andy Howard said: "We are in the early stages of this investigation but I want to assure the public that everything is being done to locate and arrest these offenders.

"Officers will be out on patrol in the centre of Windsor tonight and I urge anyone with any concerns to approach one of our officers.

"I also want to take this opportunity to urge people to only use licensed taxis. Where possible, book with a licensed taxi company in advance or if that is not possible, remember you can always ask for proof that a vehicle or driver is licensed."
