River Thames body thought to be Franciscus Van De Gender

A body retrieved from the River Thames in Berkshire is thought to be that of a 91-year-old man who went missing last month.

Thames Valley Police has told the family of Franciscus Van De Gender that they believe the body may be his.

Mr Van De Gender went missing from his home in the Woodley area of Reading on 23 November.

His car was found near the towpath at Sonning. A body was found further down the river at Wargrave on Thursday.
