Olympians honoured at Reading reception

Reading Olympians Olympians and Paralympians were honoured in Reading

Athletes from Reading who competed in the Olympics and Paralympics have been honoured at a civic reception.

Silver medallist rower Zac Purchase was one of the guests of honour at the event at the Hilton Hotel.

Team GB synchronised swimmers Katie Clark and Katie Skelton, and Paralympian swimmers Graham Edmunds and Anthony Stephens also attended.

Councillor Jenny Rynn said: "The Games were a fantastic success, we were lucky to have Reading so well represented."

"It would be great to think that we could use the event to inspire and nurture Olympians and Paralympians of the future," she added.

One hundred members of the public were also picked to attend the event through a ballot.
